Pete makes round trip of 10,000 miles to visit the Pot Still.

Retired rancher Erroll 'Pete' Petersen of Jackson, Wyoming flew a round trip of over 10,000 miles to visit the Pot Still in Glasgow. Since retiring, Erroll has been travelling the world and this was his first visit to Scotland. No sooner had he checked into his hotel, when he arrived at the 'Still' looking for a recommendation from Ken what to taste.

Of course when Ken discovered how far his visitor had travelled, he insisted the first one was on the house and being the friendly pub it is, the locals made sure our American visitor did not need to put his hand in his pocket during his short visit.

Erroll told Ken, he had seen an article about The Pot Still in a book in the States and being a big fan of Scottish malt had to pay a visit to the pub. Errol was setting off the next day for a cruise around the Western Isles on board the Hebridean Princess, however he promised to make a return trip to the 'Still' before travelling home.

SWINNEY TO PROPOSE NEW WHISKY INITIATIVE ON EVE OF CRUCIAL TALKS

On the eve of a crucial meeting of the Scotch Whisky Association Council, Shadow First Minister Mr John Swinney MSP proposed a new initiative on the future of the industry.
See the pictures of John Swinneys visit.

Mr Swinney announced the initiative as he visited the specialist malt whisky pub, The Pot Still, on Glasgow's Hope Street, where he heard the concerns of customers and owner Mr Ken Storrie over the recent Cardhu branding controversy.

Friendly city

In April, I visited Glasgow for the first time in my life. I was on a week long trip with the intention of visiting as many Charles Rennie Mackintosh sites as I could and also intending to create a whisky famine in the city centre! I did the first but failed in the second, though I did find a bar half way up Hope Street that was like an Alladin's Cave of malts.

Through the columns of your paper I would like to thank the people of Glasgow for their friendliness and helpfulness for making it a very enjoyable stay. A small complaint though - my Glaswegian friends at home did not warn me of all the hills!
